Wishing all my co-horts a happy and a healthy 2003. May we have peace of mind and spirit. The years spent at A&D are without a doubt some of the happiest and carefree. I'm retired now and live just outside of Chalottesville, VA. Painting and drawing after a 40 year hiatus. The training and the eye are still there.....never forgotten. Be well Loli

This web site is great...people i've been looking for, have been found here and at Classmates. I am still wondering whatever happened to all my chinese cousins in 1973-77. MIchelle Capra, Zananda, Wanda cohen,Brenda Craig, Fan Han where are u? Nadine Januzzi...Maria Velez, Gregory Sidberry, Samuel Witherspoon, Freddie Berrios, Chris cumberbatch... soooo many missing. If anyone has any information on these people let them know they are loved and missed a lot. The reunion in June was a blast. Art & Design has proved to be the changing point in most of our lives. When others were going to their regular high schools we were having an A&D party in and out of class. Thanks for creating this web site and another means of cntacting and staying in touch with so many brothers and sisters of our great school Art & Design...

Just found out about the alumni assoc. Kutner is a 1970 architecture graduate and is president of Kutner associates,Inc., an architecture and building company in Baltimore, Maryland. Still have family and friends in NY and get back often. I would love to attend a 1970 reunion to see old friends and reconnect. Has anyone heard from or seen Karen Fredericks, class of 1972? I just visited with Ron Slotkin, also class of '70. He's living in Wash. D.C. and works for the EPA and is a landscape architect. When did the big reunion take place? How do we get on the master list? My email is rekutner@comsast.net By the way, Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" was a big hit in '70 and still love it today.

I was known back then( class of 65) as Jose. I'm having an opening of some of my photographs @ LOLA's restaurant. 30 West 22nd Street, NYCity. Nov 20, is the opening reception. In the last 5 years I've moved into my second passion after graphic design, photography. My photographs have appeared on the History Channel, Special ABC Report and "Here is New York" in Soho, after 911. I've had a few solo shows now at LOLA's too. This is a group show with other artist and photographers.

Way, way back, when I was an SIA student in the West 40th St. building, I appeared in a school production of "The Taming of the Shrew." Mr. Cordes, of the faculty filmed the entire production. It's probably disintegrated into silver nitrate by now, but, perhaps there is someone out there who saw it, or knows if it still exists. Please let me know if you have any comments. Thanks. I am proud and honored to be part of the A&D family.Once joined, I've found your a member for life. Not an easy feat, considering most people have lost touch with no means of finding friends from one of the integrel times in our lives, HIGH SCHOOL! As a mother of three teens who will all be attending St. Francis Prep High School this fall, I am constantly reminded of the good (& bad!) times I had in A&D.

A&D was one of the highlights of my youth and the reunion brought back so many good feelings. To see old school friends was almost surrealistic but the laughs and memories shared just added that special touch that made it so real! The lobby, the cafeteria, the escalators and elevators, the gym and auditorium and of course, the terrace, what went on there! We saw it all again after so many years.......Kudos to Yvonne and company for such a well planned event! Thanks for bringing it back, Frederick Rivera Class of '70

TO ALL ALUMNI: The class of 2002 needs your support for their yearbook. Advertising in the book is at the lowest number of pages it has been in years, and advertising is what subsidizes the production costs. If you would like to place a small personal ad, something larger promoting your business, or would like to organize a group ad with your classmates, please do so quickly. We all know how meaningful our yearbooks became over the years. Please see our Home Page for more information.

I, Miriam Mondlin, (June '49) want everyone to know that you can read an important paper by award-winning filmmaker and Aesthetic Realism consultant Ken Kimmelman (June '58) on the Aesthetic Realism Foundation website-http://www.AestheticRealism.org/ This paper was presented several months ago at a public seminar. In the last years, millions of people throughout America have seen Mr. Kimmelman's public service films The Heart Knows Better, against racism, and What Does a Person Deserve?, against homelessness. He won an Emmy for The Heart Knows Better, and it is shown before every game at Yankee Stadium. These stirring PSA's are based on statements by Eli Siegel. In Mr. Kimmelman's paper titled "Our Greatest Ambition," he writes of learning from Eli Siegel and Aesthetic Realism-that there are two kinds of ambition in every person-one is based on respect and the other based on contempt. It is refreshing and useful to read how he speaks about himself as a young man at the School of Art & Design. He describes not "the good old days" but something every artist needs to understand about his or her own life--how competition and flattery is against our purpose as artist. What he learned and continues to learn from his Aesthetic Realism education had him see his largest ambition as filmmaker and as person. I respect him tremendously for his beautiful and kind work, and I want our fellow students and colleagues to know it.

Hi All, Is it too late to say Happy New Year? It's only February. Happy New Year! My list of 1976 alumni is up to 58 people, all the names are below. If you keep in touch with people who are not on this list, I urge you to forward my e-mail address and ask them to get on our list. Also, let's try sharing a little information. I would love it if all of you would BRIEFLY fill out the form below by March 16 and return it to me. I'll compile all the responses and distribute. I'm curious to know what everyone is up to and I bet you are too. My name: My name in HS (if different): City: My homelife: What I do for money: What I do for love: For example: My name: Sophie Dembling My name in HS (if different): Same City: Dallas, Texas My homelife: I live with my husband, Tom, and two mutts, Homer and Zsa Zsa in a little stone house on 2.75 wooded acres 10 minutes from the heart of the city -- a fluke property we lucked into. It's like being at summer camp all the time, except the restaurants are better. What I do for money: I'm a freelance writer, writing mostly about travel. (Glamorous job, low pay.) I just published my first book, THE YANKEE CHICK'S SURVIVAL GUIDE TO TEXAS (http://www.YankeeChick.com). I also recently launched a research business with a couple of friends, http://www.FactChasers.com. (Shameless plugs.) What I do for love: I'm world's oldest junior at the University of Texas at Dallas, majoring in psychology. That's my life in a nutshell. Send me yours. I can't promise on quick action putting a '76 Alumni Update together, but I promise you'll get it. Also, don't forget to check in on the alumni website, http:www.artalumni.com. It has A&D news, photos (and they'd love to get more, all you guys who took pix at the reunion) and free message boards. Now, here are the names of the classmates I have e-mail addresses for. As always, if you find anyone you would like to contact, let me know and I will send *your* address to that person. I don't give out e-mail addresses, it's a quirk of mine. It has been such a thrill to have met and see old friends again. It is like a stopwatch that was clicked off on graduation day and restarted 30 years later. We no longer look the same but our voices are are unmistakable! An entire lifetime has passed and yet we relate right from where we left off! For me it has reawakened such fond memories and feelings and I am glad to rekindle the good feelings of such a happy time of my life. Three cheers for A&D and the class of '69-70!!

Hello everyone, I would like to share with you all a memorial website for created for NYPD-PO Ramon Suarez who perished in the WTC incident. Ray was a friend and co-worker with the NYPD-Transit Bureau. I've known Ray for 8 yrs out of 10 yrs on the department. This website was created by the most talented James Arnett and I. Please visit the memorial website and allow time for loading as it will take a while. There is plenty to read while waiting. Also, please do sign the "visitors roll call" at the end of the video to show support to the Suarez family. I would like for everyone to get to know the person behind the name and the shield number so please forward the url to others. www.jamesarnett.com/suarez
