Sundays in March: A Class Jazz Act

Ric Nicastro, A&D Class of 1963, hosts a weekend radio show at a public broadcasting station in San Diego, California. Earlier in his life he was a radio DJ in places like Macon, Georgia, Toledo, Ohio and Albany, New York. He's found an opportunity to do it again -- 30 years later -- as a part-time gig. Ric does his weekly jazz show on KSDS 88.3 and it's streamed live on the Internet at www.jazz88online.org. You can catch Ric "on the air" on Sundays, from noon to 3pm, PT, (3pm to 6pm, ET).

March 3rd: "It's Magic" at Ella Lounge for A&D grad
Antonio Jacobs, Class of 1988, is a finalist in the ARIA @ A singing competition.
____He will be performing "If It's Magic" by Stevie Wonder on Wednesday, March 3rd at Ella Lounge, 9 Avenue A (between 1st and 2nd Streets), New York City, at 7:30pm. Admission is free. For more information call: 212-777-2230.

March 11th: Imo Imeh at CCCADI Exhibit
1998 A&D graduate, Imo Nse Imeh, PhD, an award-winning painter and Professor of Art & Art History at Westfield State College, is one of the featured artists in CCCADI's exhibition, "Wearing Spirit: Aesthetically Personifying the Feminine in African Sacred Traditions," a multi-media exhibition of paintings, sculpture, photography, textile art, video and installations honoring the power of the Feminine present in African Sacred Traditions.
____Imo's contribution is a work of art that discusses the Ibibio philosophical and aesthetic traditions of seclusion and ritual fattening by way of the mbopo sorority. It describes the newfound post-seclusion identity of the "fattened bride" as icon.
____The opening reception is Thursday, March 11th at the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diasporan Institute, at 408 West 58th Street, NYC, from 6-9pm. The exhibition will run through May 21st. For more information call 212-307-7240.

March 16th: Art & Design Alumni Association Meeting
On November 8, 2011 we will celebrate the 75th Anniversary, of the High School of Art and Design (founded as the School of Industrial Art in 1936). You could be part of the Planning Committee for this special event! Please join us from 6pm to 8:30pm, Tuesday, March 16th at the High School of Art and Design. We will be meeting in the Library, Room 304. Refreshments will be available.

His company, Fine Art Fotos Inc., will provide candids and shots of speakers, presentations, and more. For guests that wish to participate, a background will be set for formal portraits, which will be taken digitally that night, at a cost of $20 each. Thirty-five years! With not much planning time, the Class of '75 is indeed having a reunion, so get the word out to your friends. The Class of 1960, the last class to graduate from the School of Industrial Art, will be celebrating its 50th Reunion on June 26th, 2010. The reunion will take place at The Intercontinental Hotel, 111 East 48th Street, off Park Avenue, in NYC.
